Start with the part nobody selling a “fix” will tell you: a genuine enquiry for a loan you actually applied for stays on the report, and no one can delete an entry on request. What you can do is dispute information that is inaccurate or not yours — and in India that route is free, time-bound and backed by a daily compensation rule.

No. If you applied for the credit, the enquiry is an accurate record and a dispute cannot change that. What you can do is space out future applications so the pattern does not suggest rising debt.
Bureau guidance and RBI directions set the correction and reporting process, not a single retention period for enquiries, and the bureaus do not publish a common figure. Practical answer: treat an enquiry as part of your recent history for several months, which is why applying in moderation matters more than counting days.
With the lender, in writing — ask them to confirm whether an application exists in your name. In parallel, raise the dispute on the bureau's report so the entry is verified and flagged while it is unresolved. If the lender has no application, treat it as possible identity misuse and follow the fraud chapter.
Requesting a correction is not a negative event. A successful correction makes the file more accurate; while the dispute is unresolved the entry carries a dispute flag, which is disclosure, not a penalty.
Escalate to the Nodal Officer and then the Principal Nodal Officer of the bureau, and use the RBI route under the Reserve Bank – Integrated Ombudsman Scheme, 2026 via the RBI Complaint Management System. Past 30 calendar days from your first filing, ₹100 per calendar day is owed to you.
