Credit Score
A request to correct inaccurate information on your credit report.
A dispute asks the bureau or the lender that reported the data to correct something inaccurate — an account that is not yours, a settled loan shown as open, a wrong overdue amount, wrong personal details. RBI sets the clock: on your request the bureau or lender must take steps to update the information within 30 days, and where the lender is at fault it must forward corrected particulars within 21 days of being told of the inaccuracy. Beyond 30 calendar days from your first filing, ₹100 per calendar day accrues in your favour. While a disputed entry is unresolved, the report must disclose the dispute and you may add your own comment. A dispute cannot remove accurate information.
An unrecognised ₹40,000 personal loan appears on the report: file with the lender and the bureau, keep the ticket number and the date you first filed.
