What this calculator answers
Both strategies spend the same money every month; only the order of attack differs. Avalanche (highest rate first) usually finishes sooner and costs less interest; snowball (smallest balance first) clears an account quickly, which is what keeps many people going. Enter your debts once and see both futures.
How it is calculated
Each month every balance grows by its annual rate ÷ 12, minimums are paid capped at what is owed, and everything beyond the minimums — including minimums of debts already cleared — attacks the strategy's target debt. Capped at 500 months with an explicit warning instead of a fake date.
Rates stay fixed, payments start this month, and nothing else is borrowed meanwhile. No credit bureau is queried, no loan is offered, and the tool cannot say whether you should borrow.
Common questions
Which strategy should I pick?
Avalanche always saves the most interest on the same cash flow. Snowball costs a little more in interest but clears a whole account early — if that early win is what keeps you paying, the difference can be worth it. The tool shows the exact cost of that choice on your numbers.
What does the red warning mean?
That a debt's minimum payment is smaller than one month of its interest — the balance grows on its own no matter what you pay. Paying above that minimum (or negotiating the rate) is the only way it ends.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The simulator runs entirely in your browser; nothing is stored or uploaded.
Does it check my credit score?
Never. It needs only the numbers you type. There is no bureau access and no loan offer anywhere in it.
